Let’s face it – summer is a gift that just keeps on giving. It’s a season that in many aspects, fashion and beauty being one of the most important, provides a blank canvas that allows us to play and paint it with as many colors and shapes as we desire. It’s a time of endless possibilities, countless hairstyles and gorgeous makeup to try on and be a different kind of goddess every day. So, let’s see what some of the hottest beauty trends are, and snag them for ourselves ASAP.

A clean and glowing canvas

Before you can dive in and give every new makeup trend out there a test drive, you need to make sure that your skin is in impeccable condition. Stock up on cleansers, toner and skin serum which seem to be experiencing a particular boom this season, and the buzz around them is more than justified. From dull and skin that’s kind of ‘meh’ to a skin craving an even tone, reduction of fine lines, brightness and firmness – skin serum are most definitely the thing you want in your skin care routine because they actually do the job they’re given.

The best part is, there is a serum that caters to every particular need, so make sure you find your Holy Grail as soon as possible. Of course, one of summer’s most important commandments to abide by is to never skip the SPF. Find the right SPF moisturizer and keep your skin away from the sun when humanly possible. By using masks and exfoliation (gently) twice a week, blackhead removal should be a breeze. There you have it – skincare essentials in a nutshell.

Beauty comes in different forms

Trends come and go, but some of them are lucky enough to stand the test of time – case in point – the no-makeup makeup. BB creams and mid-coverage foundations are your summer go-to allies, especially if you add a touch of face spray or serum on your makeup sponge to get that extra hydration and irresistible healthy glow. Neutral eye-opening eye shadows and barely glossy nude lips can still be your go-to looks – those stay safe and sound.  

However, in the beauty arena there is an entire universe to explore, so once you’re ready to play with something a tad bolder and edgier than the clean and wholesome no-makeup look, the smudgy eye is here for you. It’s a summer twist on the classic eyeliner look. Its perks are that it’s easier to do (that wing can be a real pain to pull off) and the dramatic effect is still there. The red lipstick is not going anywhere, but one thing that is new-ish is the craze over matching your lip and cheek color. This trend has been spotted on all runways, and we have to say we’re kind of loving the matchy-matchy look, plus, you don’t have to invest in blush as your lippie can serve as a 2 in 1.

Great makeup travels with fashion to match

With amazing makeup comes great responsibility – to have the attire to complete the look. Last year was all about baring both shoulders, and this year the focus is placed on ruffles and showing off just one, along with classic white and chic stripped tops  that are meant to share the stage with great culottes and gingham skirts. You can’t call yourself a true fashionista if you haven’t grabbed and strutted around town in a gingham skirt. Neck scarves are mandatory too; they represent the whole ‘French girl vibe’ revival, so make sure you stock up on these. Of course, when it comes to dresses, a simple sundress just won’t cut it this season, what with all the bold yellows and pinks we’ve seen on this year’s runways, along with sheer fabrics that will have you channeling your inner Beyoncé.  

Great hair does care

Ok, the cherry on the sundae – that perfect hairstyle. You’re at liberty to rock your bold pixies Katy Perry style, or take a hint from Gigi and flaunt your sun kissed strands.  If the heat gets to you, you can again turn to Gigi, as this summer the model has been spotted on the streets rocking the effortless and heat-free sleek high bun that also features a twist on the well-known wet hair trend. However, after some careful research AKA celebrity Instagram stalking, we can all agree that the hottest hair trend is hair accessorizing. Colorful and vibrant headbands and wraps aren’t only gorgeous and able to enhance any given look, and they’re but also an amazing trick that comes real handy when you want to conceal a bad-hair day situation.
